The Glen Brook Lean-to. These shelters are scattered along the trail, mostly for the use of those who are thru-hiking and not carrying much of a tent. This time of year we had them mostly to ourselves.

The "string with can and stick" was ubiquitous in the shelters and confounded us until near the end of our trip. Once the bears have gone to bed, food can be hung from them to keep the mice and other woodland creatures out.

Glen Brook. There were others far more dramatic than this but the pack lacked a good place to store the camera for easy retrieval.

Brad making a call home to check on the wife and kids. We had pretty good cell service at most points along the trail.

Definitely quarried and carved atop the mountain, there's no way anyone would haul that stone up to its current resting place.

"Bear Grylls would eat it" We met up with Joe (left) and James (right) a shelter ago and Joe was determined to catch something with his fishing gear. It had legs and a big paddle tail but they ate it anyway.

On our last night we camped at the Schaghticoke mountain campsite and I finally used my tent for more than just a pillow. Pouring rain ensued but the tents held up pretty well.
