Thanks for dropping by my little site, the online home to Doug (me) and the dogs, Django, Jack and Buster
I do stuff sometimes and a bit less frequently I tell the world about the stuff I do and/or what I think about stuff.
A bit about your host: I’m Doug Philips. I spent the first 25 years of my life living in Texas. My very early years were spent in the towns of Alvin and West Columbia (go Roughnecks!) before moving to Austin to go to college at UT. After college, I slacked around Austin for a few years, waiting tables (Moondance, Katz’, Vincent’s on the Lake) and working the odd job between vast quantities of time spent hanging out with friends.
In 1995, I decided to move the Portland, Oregon, and have never once regretted the decision. It is a beautiful place with a plethora of outdoor activities just an hour away or less in any given direction. Fishing, snowboarding, hiking, hunting, the beach are all just a few sweet minutes away; OK so maybe more like an hour but depending on your side of town, the coast might be closer than the mountain or vice versa. If you’re tired of being outside, there are also a plethora of indoor activities. Portland has probably the most developed microbrewing culture of any city in the US as well as a thriving local music scene.
If you have some odd, uncontrollable urge to contact me, I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
