1st Annual Powertool Pumpkin Carving Party

The premise was good: open up my garage to a bunch of friends and have them unleash powertools on Fall’s bounty.

I’d have to say that it was a rousing success and that a good time was had by all.  First announced almost a month ago, it was met with a great deal of enthusiasm.  Steve helped me hang black plastic on all the walls in the garage and decorate them using faces and red paint.  Turns out decorating the walls, while a nice effect, didn’t contribute a whole lot to the party.  Lots of tables and power drops around the room was what really made it.  The show was all in the folks using the tools, what they were using and how they were using it. I really lucked out with the nice weather as folks were able to mill around in the backyard instead of being cramped into the house.

A great big huge thanks goes out to Robert for taking the camera and getting pics of pretty much everything.  I owe you big time!!

Another great big huge thanks goes to Jeremy for bringing his McMenamins Ruby clone to go along with my IPA, as well as for bringing the air cannon!

Last but not least, a great big huge thanks to everyone who came and brought their tools, food and libations, creativity and enthusiasm.  I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did.  If you weren’t able to make it, put this one on your calendar for next year

Plans for the 2nd Annual Powertools Pumpkin Carving Party are already afoot, scheduled for October 24th, 2009.

Lost and found:

tarp, extension cord, rubber bungee, safety goggles (wuss), drill bit, dremel stuff, a router bit collet and some miscellaneous part probably from a dremel as well.

Also in Lost and Found is a Halloweenie bowl and white spatula.  I’m not a fan of the bowl but the spatula seems perfect for scraping out a pumpkin.

Someone during the party mentioned needing a good table/workbench at home.  This table was on loan from the neighbor but he’d prefer that someone else put it to good use.  Contact me if you want it.
